Vidéotron just announced a new tier of cable internet service for home users, Ultimate Speed Internet 50, that offers 50 Mbps download speeds, for $79.95 per month.
Vidéotron says you could download a CD’s worth of music in just 10 seconds on this service.
That’s insane. As I pointed out in my post about Northwestel Cable (northwestel cable service revisited: it’s still lame in comparison), the Yukon’s average download speed is a measly 2 Mbps. Even my own “ultra” service, priced at $89.95, doesn’t compare, with promised downloads speeds of just 10 Mbps.
