Mr. O’Reilly said in an interview that there was a clear divide between these two phones that felt like a war taking place between Apple and Google. He said it reminded him of the early battles with Microsoft and desktop operating systems. “If you’re a primary user of these platforms you get a great experience,” he said.
Interesting point that often gets missed: Apple is the only significant player in both the original desktop wars and the new mobile wars. To my mind, that indicates that they’re the only company in existence to today capable of spanning major eras and methods of computing. Microsoft is clearly a has-been, beholden to the fast-dieing desktop model, while Google only gets the online model and note even Chromium will change that.
